The next Apple iPhone 16 Series will feature new borderless tech for thinner bezels.

The upcoming iPhone 16 series is rumored to introduce even thinner bezels, courtesy of a new Border Reduction Structure (BRS) technology. This innovation aims to minimize the bottom bezels across all four upcoming models by employing copper wires rolled up underneath the panel.

According to reports from Korean source Sisa Journal, suppliers such as Samsung Display, BOE, and LG Display have acquired this technology. The success of the display’s widespread adoption is said to hinge on the production yield rate.

While the regular iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are expected to maintain the same panel size and type as their predecessors, slight increases in display size are anticipated for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Market research conducted by Omdia suggests a 6.3-inch display for the iPhone 16 Pro and a 6.9-inch display for the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Omdia, a global analyst and advisory firm known for assessing emerging market trends, predicts that these larger panels will incorporate LTPO technology, akin to last year’s Pro models, to deliver enhanced performance. However, rumors regarding under-display technology (UDC) on Apple’s iPhone 16 models to hide sensors from Dynamic Island may not come to fruition this year.

Kang Min-soo, a senior researcher at Omdia, suggests that Apple’s efforts in this area could encounter delays, potentially pushing the timeline to as late as 2027. As anticipation mounts for the iPhone 16 series, consumers eagerly await the unveiling of Apple’s latest BRS-embedded panels, larger screen sizes, sleeker designs, and more immersive displays.
